While Davis was impressed that this two hundred plus-year-old senior sister didn’t use her junior brother to achieve what she failed to grasp with her own hands, Drake remained stunned at her words. He didn’t expect her to place such importance on him.
For heaven’s sake, he hadn’t even begun to hold hands with her! However, both knew that there was a kind of tension between them as he flirted with her whenever he had the chance.
Could it be that their feelings for each other were mutual? Or did she just want to protect him as his senior sister?
However, Davis could tell at that moment because he sneakily used Misdirection to distract them and invoked Karma Threads. Drake and Jade Sua certainly did have a red thread connecting them, but it was full of other colors as well, such as worry and anxiety.
Perhaps, they were both indecisive on how they should proceed with their feelings, just like him and Isabella of the past, but it didn’t matter to him since they already have a red thread connecting them. He felt that Drake would eventually take care of it if it is fate’s way of connecting them.
"Jade, it’s fine to use my influence at this moment..." Drake softly added.
"No, you don’t know what taking responsibility entails..." Jade Sua shook her head, "What do you know about the mysterious Dragon Queen?"
"Well..." Drake smiled as he shook his head, "Other than hearing how she managed to drive the Aqua Flood Dragon away with her bloodline prowess, I only know that she is a member of the younger generation and a heavenly beauty who took the hearts of numerous men as she became a fantasy here."
"An Eighth Stage Expert below two hundred years is rare even in our main headquarters, the Dual Lotus Manor. However, having that kind of prowess at the Eighth Stage is practically unheard of, so I get why she would be a fantasy here for a short time while it lasted."
Drake rubbed his chin as he looked at Kara, "Still don’t remember?"
"Yeah, I now remember about some silly hype among the men at that time..." Kara narrowed her brows, "But wasn’t it said that the Dual Lotus Manor was going to pay a visit but changed their mind since those Four Great Dragon Families silently sent word to all nearby hegemons that no one should visit or harm her?"
Drake shook his head, "I’m not sure as it’s just a rumor..."
"But if it were the case, it was done probably to protect her from the prowess of the mid-sized Territories. Obviously, she can reign and wander carefreely in the small Territories like the Nine Western Territories with her current prowess, but if any one of us, like the Dual Lotus Manor or the closest to the Alstreim Family, the Poison Lord Villa, were to enter the fray, she would be endangered which would directly be an act of offending the Four Great Dragon Families."
"Drake, did these all really happen?" Davis laughed but inwardly, he felt confused.
"You don’t know?" Drake became confused.
Didn’t Davis just indirectly accept that he was a subordinate to that Dragon Queen?
"I..." Drake frowned as he truly didn’t know whether it was the truth or not.
"It’s probably true." Jade Sua interrupted, causing everyone’s attention to turn to her.
"I put a formal request to head towards the Alstreim Family so that I can meet the Dragon Queen because I needed the Million Emerald Calamity Vines’ Nectar to enter the Martial Sage Stage. The moment I heard about the heavenly resource, I couldn’t let it go without doing anything. It was important to me, to my future."
"Even if the Dragon Queen ousted me without being granted an audience, I was prepared to try, but the Dual Lotus Abode rejected my request and specifically told me to stay and search for another method rather than to meet the Dragon Queen. If I don’t listen, they low-key warned that they would expel me, so I can only helplessly try other methods, but never in my life did I expect for the Dragon Queen’s subordinate to come in search of me for the Forsaken Yin Lotus."
"Truly, the heavens do open a path when everything else is closed..." Jade Sua appeared to be moved as she cast a glance at Drake.
If not for him, she wouldn’t have met Davis, who would bring her the treasure for her to enter the Martial Sage Stage. Her heart became filled with complex emotions as she stared at him. She had tried to enter the Martial Sage Stage so many times, but all of it had ended in failure. There wasn’t a day that passed by where she didn’t feel regret for her countless failures.
Davis inwardly became flabbergasted as he heard Jade Sua’s speech. He didn’t know so many things, but once he was outside, his horizons kept expanding.
He always felt why those fabled Dragon Families he had heard about didn’t bother to visit the Alstreim Family to check if Dragon Queen Isabella was a real person or not. However, it looks like it wasn’t that they didn’t bother to visit the famed Dragon Queen, but they are already aware and seemed like wanting to display sincerity towards her by causing all the near mid-sized Territories to stay their hands, by protecting her from the shadows.
When Isabella came to learn of it, she might or would feel grateful.
However, he still felt confused. There was no need for them to wait, but if they did wait, then the likely answer was that they had hit a wall of some sort. He felt that they had a problem at their home or alliance, or they were unable to reach a consensus, like which Dragon Family should she belong to in the future...?
Likely, they investigated which family she had belonged to, but no one came forward to claim her as one of their own. Later, they decided to make her one of them, but they couldn’t decide to which family she should belong to and so came to a consensus about something, like letting her choose for herself...?
Davis’s brows furrowed as he didn’t like the speculation he had derived from hearing all this information, but sure enough, for now, they seem to be just watching. Perhaps the moment Dragon Queen Isabella left the Alstreim Family would be when they would try to make contact with her!
Davis knew that this day would always come, but he just wondered why it didn’t come sooner and why there was no sight of it? It turned out that they had their own plans for Isabella!
Besides, the Dragon Families probably hated lowering their pride to visit the Alstreim Family Territory, a country-side in their terms. Moreover, coming to get her from all the way would thicken Isabella’s pride, so they were probably letting her play it out in the country-side for a while before making her know about the vastness of the cultivation world.
Davis inwardly snickered.
Unfortunately for them, by the time Isabella returns, she would probably be able to battle against Ninth Stage Powerhouses! Even if she can’t fight all of them, she sure can hide by that point with a lot of Emperor Grade Treasures at her arsenal. However, if they wanted to get her, then they would have to get past him first.
’Well, thinking about all these is stupid considering she would be already my woman in body and soul by the time she returns...’
Davis just simply nodded his head after hearing Jade Sua’s understanding, "I see. I’ll be sure to relay this information."
"So you really are the Dragon Queen’s subordinate..." Drake blinked in wonder before he let out a lewd smile, "Dude, you never said that you got yourself a sugar mommy? How can you hide this from me? I’m completely jealous now!"
Davis’s lips twitched.
If anything, it was more like he was the sugar daddy instead. Nevertheless, he let the misunderstanding stay a misunderstanding.
While Kara and Jade Sua wondered what a sugar mommy meant, Davis continued.
"Alright, this information you provided was greatly helpful to me, Miss Jade Sua. I am willing to let you have the nectar first so that you can experience a breakthrough. You can then take on a mission that will allow you to complete the mission within a few hours or within a day with your newfound Martial Sage Stage prowess."
"This way, we all seek to gain what we want in a swift manner."
Jade Sua became taken aback before her expression became solemn, "Are you sure? I would not allow Drake to take responsibility for this trade because only I would be responsible."
Davis nodded his head, causing Jade Sua to smile as he cast a glance at Drake and Kara before turning to look at Davis.
"Thank you all..."
"Haha, no need to mention ’thanks’ among us..." Drake laughed.
Kara also smiled as her gaze softened.
If it was said that she still held some misgivings for Drake to welcome Jade Sua as one of them, she no longer held them anymore as she didn’t make use of him. At the least, she felt like she could accept her as her sister as she had done with his other five wives.
"Alright, you can take this canteen that contains the nectar. I’ll be waiting here in this room for the Forsaken Yin Lotus, so don’t disappoint me."
"I will not!" Jade Sua replied to Davis, her eyebrows shaping themselves solemnly, "If I don’t fulfill my end of the bargain, you can send experts to kill me. I won’t resist."
Davis became stunned, and so did Drake and Kara.
They did not expect her to be so blunt with words. However, they understood her meaning, that if she had somehow failed to fulfill her side of the deal, he was free to kill her and not find responsibility with Drake.
Davis understood that she was originally willing to carry her legs to the Alstreim Family to meet the Dragon Queen, so it made sense that she had a resolute will to carry out things.
However, he also mused that in all her time here in this Dual Lotus Abode, she could’ve never remained a pure woman for more than two hundred years without a resolute will like the one that chooses death over being shamed! Instead of serving or slavery as a punishment, she chose death!
Jade Sua took the canteen with a wave of her hand and stood up before giving him a cultivator’s respect greeting as she clasped her hands.
"I’ll make haste!"
She then turned around and left while Drake and Kara remained, their expressions a bit rattled.
"Davis, you won’t truly kill her, would you?" Drake stared.
Davis chuckled, "Well, I won’t kill her for you, but the responsibility is unavoidable in case if she can’t obtain the Forsaken Yin Lotus for me, you understand?"
Drake took a deep breath before he nodded his head, "Alright. If she falls in a predicament like failing to breakthrough, then regardless of her will, I’ll aid her in getting you the Forsaken Yin Lotus, so don’t worry."
Davis nodded his head, "I’ll give you a heads-up. To take such a risk, she already loves you. It is up to you to break the matter. If you let this chance go, perhaps you’ll see her with another man once she is promoted and sent to the Dual Lotus Manor. I won’t be helping you anymore."
Drake’s eyes narrowed, "I understand..."
