Chapter 2904 Rigidity
"Curses!"
*Bang!~*
A table was smashed down by a furious flaming fist that burned scarlet.
It caused the people who were present in this scene to back away like they were afraid of the plague.
However, what they backed away from was none other than their leader, the head who brought about the mess the Fire Phoenix Clan was in.
"Damn it! Where did he disappear to if he hasn’t returned to the Aurora Cloud Gate!? Those three inheritors also dare to disobey!?"
Patriarch Killian Zenflame roared after destroying the table that had the general map of the First Haven World, including the markers that had rumors of the Emperor of Death’s presence floating around. It was as though he was everywhere, appearing in one place before disappearing without a trace, causing massive headaches to him.
He didn’t know who was doing this, whether it was a distraction or the truth.
However, what he knew was that he was getting sick and tired of it.
Turning around, he glared at the elders.
"..."
But he narrowed his eyes, looking at them having become sick of his commands as well as it bore no fruit anymore.
All he could do was engage in damage control, somehow managing to save the Fire Phoenix Clan from public backlash while putting all the blame on the Anarchic Divergent for making things worse, claiming that he created that Blood Soul Contract for righteous reasons as that would extricate their inheritor Shirley from karmic burden by punishing her.
However, who would buy that far-fetched excuse?
No one did, and they were even exiled from the Phoenix Alliance for a thousand years, but almost everyone sure did buy the narrative that they wouldn’t survive or stand tall with such a powerful monster roaming outside.
Wouldn’t they come under the Emperor of Death’s tyrannical control if he were to grow without a stop? Wouldn’t they be affected by his karmic burden by watching him grow without doing anything? Wouldn’t their youths be in danger? Weren’t they already inflicted by his karmic burden? Shouldn’t they cleanse it by killing him?
Flooded with so many questions and worries caused the minds of the alliances waver, making them go surround the Aurora Cloud Gate and demand the handover of the Anarchic Divergent, the Emperor of Death, as a result.
This bought him a bit of time to mediate things out with everyone, causing them to temporarily forget about Shirley’s matter and the wrongs they have committed.
’Heh! It’s not like they could do anything about it or would want to do anything, as they’re unrelated parties. I have only the Aurora Cloud Gate to worry about, but even they are in a deadlock with all the powers having cornered them...’
Patriarch Killian Zenflame felt like patting himself on the back for being competent.
However, his expression scrunched as he knew who was responsible for rallying the other powers as Ancestor Reselius showed himself, convincing the others to stay their hands and that it wasn’t time to fight amongst themselves as there was the ultimate goal of winning the Candidacy to look after.
But he didn’t feel overshadowed by that but even felt thankful as he gained enough time to move the world’s attention elsewhere.
What made him mad was that Ancestor Reselius was blocked from making a move when the Emperor of Death wreaked havoc in their cities.
’Void Dust Empress... I didn’t expect her to be able to sneak into our ancestral palace..."
Remembering that scene, his body couldn’t help but tremble.
As soon as he entered, he saw the Void Dust Empress seated across a table from Ancestor Reselius. They both seemed to be playing an ancient board game lost to time that he had no idea of, casually exchanging moves, yet the resounding silence was deafening enough to stop his heartbeat.
He couldn’t raise his voice for even the slightest bit, or he felt like he would’ve died.
However, one thing was completely clear to him.
The Void Dust Empress said that she would completely wreck the Fire Phoenix Clan without saying anything, simply intimidating every Ancestor present within the Clan with her presence.
The Ancestors didn’t show themselves despite being awoken by the tribulation because of the tribulation itself. They didn’t want the Fire Phoenix Clan to be karmically burdened than it is already is, but suddenly, they had all fainted except the Void Dust Empress.
He had also lost consciousness, but only when he woke up did he know that she remained to play with Ancestor Reselius, who didn’t seem to have paid attention to the Emperor of Death’s tribulation to have received backlash from the heavens.
She didn’t leave until it was some time after the tribulation’s end, leaving Ancestor Reselius silent beyond compare, which honestly made him feel terrified a bit.
Regardless, he knew his plans were thwarted by the Void Dust Empress and the resulting mess that it created.
’Tch, that Blazing Thunderlight Sect’s Founder is also to blame. After all, if she hadn’t made a scene like that, no one would’ve been able to find anything, and Shirley would’ve belonged to Lars while Zahara belonged to me...!’
He closed his eyes and clenched his fists, seemingly containing his fury.
But at this moment, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed into the chamber before a crimson-armored warrior went on his knees, cupping his hands.
"Patriarch! Our troops are ready and only need a single command to sacrifice themselves for the ultimate goal of our Fire Phoenix Clan."
Patriarch Killian Zenflame’s eyes shot wide open. His aura seemed to change as he turned around and stretched out his hand toward the command relay.
"Relay my command to all Immortal Stage and Immortal King Stage units. Commence invasion on the remnants of the Central Primesky Alliance. Do not leave a single person alive. We will take revenge for the lives lost in the past week!"
"Yes!"
The command relay person hurriedly stood up and walked away from the chamber into another chamber, which could be said to be the war room. There, he instantly relayed the Patriarch’s command, causing the Fire Phoenix Clan’s troops to invade many cities.
In the other war room where ideas congregate, the Fire Phoenix Clan’s Patriarch smiled coldly.
Because it was revealed that the Central Primesky Alliance had contracted with an Anarchic Divergent, it had disbanded overnight under valid reasons, leaving only the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan, Golden Crow Clan, and a few other powers remaining in it.
He imagined taking them out would be easier than chasing strings.
After all, once he started the war, there would naturally be others joining to take advantage, not to mention uniting under one banner as they would all fight under the common banner of smoking out the Emperor of Death into revealing himself so that they could finish him off sooner than later.
Still smiling coldly, he turned to look at a white-robed man remaining silent in a corner.
"Is this arrangement good enough, Venerable Warrior Zermatt? "
"Three of our young and talented Divergent Slayers have been slain. If he doesn’t die, then I don’t deserve to live either."
Venerable Warrior Zermatt uttered as though it was some cold hard truth. His words sounded calm, but his undulations were anything but calm, causing the Fire Phoenix Clan’s members to be exceedingly wary of him.
’What a strong Divergent Slayer...!’
Patriarch Killian Zenflame’s crimson eyes gleamed.
He had just entered the Immortal Emperor Stage himself. However, he could tell that this person was definitely comparable to him in prowess or, perhaps, even stronger!
