Chapter 3822 Traveling Southwest
"..."
The Scorchblaze Infernal Hydragon’s eyes shook. He looked spooked, remembering the beatings he went through in addition to the soul torture. He knew exactly how powerful this man was before him and knew the damage he could deal while still being an Immortal King.
He was starting to get slowly convinced that becoming a slave to his father wouldn’t be so bad.
However, serving an Empress of his species was much more enticing, so he couldn’t decide.
"Hmm!?" Davis raised his voice.
"I’ll do...! I’ll do it. I’ll become your father’s slave..."
The Scorchblaze Infernal Hydragon uttered with sadness revelling in his eyes. It seemed like there was no escape from him. He couldn’t understand what he did was exactly wrong since humans also have magical beast ranches but it seems like having a human livestock ranch was wrong for them, so he could only suffer.
Davis nodded and let go of him before throwing him back into his life ring.
He could help his father tame the Scorchblaze Infernal Hydragon later. It was a Peak-Level Immortal Emperor Beast, after all.
They were almost out of the Magical Beast Wildlands now. Instead of heading west straight, which would’ve led them to the Three-Headed Hydra Border Town, they went southwest, eventually exiting the forest.
From there, they made a beeline towards Earth Dragon Border Town.
However, it would be a long journey, one that didn’t necessarily facilitate their full attention since the road was paved with towns here and there, making it relatively safe. The only problem was bandits and the occasional magical beast hunts but with their ship giving off Immortal Emperor Grade undulations, most of them should be scared off.
They made numerous turns and took roundabout routes to avoid territories occupied by major powers within the realm.
Offending any one of them will increase their chances of being exposed, so they remained silent in their travels. It took them more time but the roundabout wasn’t damn long for them to not consider it.
"Halt!"
However, not all territories were going to be obvious to be recognized.
When they traversed the skies, it seemed that they crossed a concealment barrier and entered into a power’s territory accidentally.
Davis dragged a hand across his face, preparing himself not to be offended.
"Sorry, we were unable to find it in time-"
"Not your fault."
Davis raised his hand and stopped Isabella from apologizing. She was in charge of sensing the dangers ahead with her soul sense and bodily sense. She wasn’t a Divergent and her suppressed dragon aura made it so any beast would retreat away upon the slightest touch even if they didn’t sense her Emperor-Tier aura.
However, it seemed that this concealment barrier was as good as Empyrean Grade or Autarch Grade in current era terms, making it so that she was unable to sense it in time.
This also meant that they were facing a power with a long history and at least had the power of one or two Empyreans.
"Please let me deal with it, Legion Master."
Captain Praezen cupped his hands and asked.
Davis considered for a moment before he nodded his head. It wasn’t good for him to show himself or stand out. Besides, letting his army captain resolve the situation also wasn’t a bad idea.
It was one of the reasons he had them accompany him.
Captain Praezen alighted from the flying ship as he jumped from the deck and moved towards the source of the voice. The mist cleared and a brown-armored man with a spear flew towards them. He had a dashing appearance and his white hair also swayed in the wind.
With an amused smile, he appeared before them, his undulations reverberating at Level Seven Sovereign Stage.
"Travelers, you are advised to lower your weapons if you don’t want to get shot by our offensive formations. This is the territory of the Metenoa Family and intruding into our skies is a serious offense."
"Greetings, Metenoa Family."
Captain Praezen stood a few hundred meters away from the brown-armored man as he cupped his hands.
"We don’t mean any harm and only want to pass through."
"Pass through? Further south is a feral beast ranch that we own. You can’t just pass through without paying a toll."
"In that case, it’s our wrong to have entered your territory. We’re willing to pay the toll. Let us know the price."
The brown-armored man narrowed his eyes for a moment, appearing contemplative before he nodded.
"Alright. The price is ten million High-Level Transcendent Crystals."
"..."
Captain Praezen’s expression sank.
That definitely wasn’t a small amount as it could buy a Mid-Level Immortal Emperor Grade Treasure. The flying ship Threelotus bought cost them a hundred and twenty million High-Level Transcendent Crystals. It was nothing more than cheap change for them.
Still, the price was too high.
Even when Mistress Evelynn and Celestial Fairy Zenova Artoria traversed from a pirate town to Highnode Town, the cost was only half a million High-Level Transcendent Immortal Crystals. It covered so much distance but this was merely the territory of a single power.
Utmost, he guessed it would take ten thousand or so but ten million High-Level Transcendent Crystals?
This was no different from daylight robbery.
Captain Praezen forced a smile, "Is there any way that we can pay the toll for a far lesser amount?"
"Ten million or scram. Wait a minute, you intruded into our territory and simply thought you could leave?"
The brown-armored man looked ferocious as he took a step forward but suddenly, two more individuals appeared, their hair black but wearing the same brown armor. They caught that white-haired man from making a move, telling him to calm down.
But inwardly, they were communicating.
"Don’t go too far. Come down."
"Yes, the original toll price was only ten thousand High-Level Transcendental Crystals. There’s no need for you to raise it so high."
"Fools. One of our Transcendent Mine Crystals is going to deplete in a hundred years. I’m doing this to save our asses from being punished by the Patriarch since our production would be less...."
"Well..."
"In that case..."
The two who came to stop him looked sheepish before they nodded at him.
"Help me out. Obviously, they’re not ordinary for traveling in a Mid or High-Level Autarch Grade Flying Ship but don’t they seem to be affiliated with a power either as they’re all wearing black robes? Most likely, they’re a new emerging power with much of an influence or backing or they’re simply bandits hauling some high-value goods. Don’t let them get away. Support me."
He instructed them but shrugged off their grasp, looking offended before he pointed at Captain Praezen.
"If you don’t pay up, then don’t blame me for being ruthless!"
*Bzzz!~*
His undulations reverberated much more intensely, quickly revealing that he wasn’t just an average Level Seven Sovereign. His prowess was... one level higher.
"..."
Captain Praezen had never felt so stifled in his life.
Why was he talking to someone weaker than him again?
