Chapter 3871 Into The City
While the prisoners were brought to the execution stage, a group of people silently entered the capital city, blending with the crowd. They eventually separated, heading alone except for one person who walked straight, cutting through the crowd as they made their way to the core region.
"The security is so lax here despite the situation..."
Davis’s lips couldn’t help but curl.
With the help of the Heavenly Blight Hall, he easily got in. He must admit that although their methods were dubious, they had the ability and influence to move around. Some security guards were actually enslaved or charmed by them, which allowed them to enter the city. He couldn’t tell what, as he just passed by them, but either way, they had fearsome methods to manipulate people.
He was able to easily infiltrate, but that didn’t mean the security was not tight. There were a a lot of spots where patrols roamed about in the city. As long as he avoided them, he felt that he could be near the region without a problem.
However, it wasn’t up to par with his personal taste.
The Reaper Soul Legion would’ve done a much more efficient job in covering the blind spots.
Nonetheless, he chalked it up to them baiting him to come and surrender himself to death. They couldn’t afford to take him down in a place full of people, after all. That would be a massacre.
Still, Davis looked above, knowing that it was just morning and there were still six hours left until the execution. Until then, he must rely on the Heavenly Blight Hall to plan an escape route.
There was no use staying here after rescuing his buddies. His plan was hit and rescue, as simple as it could be, as he was prepared to use Fallen Heaven to power the black-white stone, which he didn’t know would happen in the next six hours.
There was nothing else he could do.
No amount of planning would work on the hundred plus Autarchs and Empyreans. Even if he could outwit all of them here, reinforcements were always sitting outside, waiting to hamper his efforts. These people who surpassed the third stage of immortality and transcendence were all from this and the nearby realms in the Upper Strata.
There were too many of them, their presence clear in his perception, while a minority of them kept their auras suppressed as their attitude was to make sure nothing escapes their grasp when they’re attacked.
Only strength was going to let him get out of this situation.
*Growl~*
Davis looked down as he heard his stomach growling. It garnered some attention, but they didn’t recognize him as the Divine Emperor of Death because he was using Karmic Impersonation using the soul of a Peak-Level Immortal Emperor Bandit.
Perhaps some people would be able to recognize him as the said bandit, but they were unlikely to attack as today was a ceasefire between all powers as announced by the realm officials in order to hunt him down.
"Let’s just go eat some food, I guess..."
Davis rubbed his stomach, and he couldn’t help but chuckle at the uniting entities of the human race. If there was a common enemy, they were always quick to forget their differences, Not that he was complaining as he admired a trait that was important to a race’s survival.
On the other hand, he was starting to hate how his body was adapting to the true immortal world.
He was too powerful, so even just existing without replenishing heaven and earth energy is taking a toll on his body. Even with the massive reserves of energy provided by the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill, they wouldn’t last for a month, and since he wanted to conserve energy, he didn’t use martial energy to replenish his body, so his body was now experiencing hunger after two days of not eating anything.
He needed to eat in order to replenish the strength and hunger in his body. Otherwise, he could use martial energy, but he needed to be prepared, so he didn’t waste a single ounce of energy.
He walked into a restaurant at the corner of the plaza and ordered some food, chowing on it with relish. His appetite was ignited by the body’s need for food. He felt like a mortal again and felt like he should maintain this lifestyle more, but it was also a risky move to keep the body starved.
The body would be prone to exhaustion and wouldn’t be able to use the meridians optimally, leading to a loss of battle prowess for the first few seconds, which may prove to be fatal.
"Did you hear it? Apparently, the younger sister of the Anarchic Divergent is a Heaven’s Warrior with a heavenly physique of the highest order."
"It is the most confusing miracle of the era."
"To think a heavenly younger sister would be born to end the big devil. That is quite the heavenly touch~"
In the restaurant, topics about him were galore, but there were also a few people who spoke about his little sister, Clara.
Davis didn’t mind.
He already got the news that his younger sister was exposed. The timing was too coincidental, as it was after he revealed his younger sister’s true nature to the Heavenly Blight Hall. However, he later learned that it had to do with the Heaven Mandate Temple’s patriarch, Regalanius.
He smiled, not expecting to hear about him in this realm.
He didn’t know the intentions behind Regalanius’s snitching, but the other party was a Heaven’s Warrior at heart even though he wasn’t, so Davis wasn’t bothered.
Davis ate some more meat and walked out of the restaurant. He looked above, and the sun still hadn’t risen halfway yet. There’s still five hours left until the execution, but Davis has never felt so impatient.
He turned to look at the projections hung up on almost every plaza. The projections changed angles every now and then, but their faces were visiblethe faces of his friends.
Davis clenched his fists. He couldn’t wait to save them, as the protests and insults never really stopped. The people demanding that he be captured and killed and his friends get beheaded quick were starting to irritate him.
’You people have only yourselves to blame for coming to a war zone...’
He was not a saint. However, he kept himself calm.
His plan was simple, but it wasn’t without relying on a few factors, such as waiting for the Heavenly Blight Hall to get into position and Rokushi Mirai needing to attract away some forces from here, especially the Heaven’s Warriors, which she would do an hour before the execution begins as she tries to escape from this Minor Realm through utilizing the vastness of space.
"Oh? Aren’t you Bandit Emperor Rekan Lockette?"
Davis turned to look at the person who seemed to have recognized the identity of his karmic impersonation. It was a Level One Autarch.
