Chapter 3825 Subduing an Autarch
A white talisman the size of a hand appeared in the Metenoa Family Autarch’s hand. It was engraved in crimson markings, runes that Davis and the others had never seen before.
*Bzz!~*
It abruptly shuddered, lighting up.
Evelynn’s gaze flickered but she didn’t move. Her fourth spider bone flickered like a deathly sword, the tip of the purplish-red scythe coated in gray decay energy cutting off Metenoa Family Autarch’s hand.
However, she knew she was too late as the severed hand possessed enough energy to activate the talisman, causing her to retreat along with the Metenoa Family Autarch’s in tow. Her scythe was like a hook when it latches on. She dragged him along with her but suddenly two black-robed figures appeared beside the glowing talisman.
They raised their hands, creating a spatial barrier.
A semi-transparent purple sphere abruptly appeared around the talisman. The next second, the talisman went off.
Space collapsed at the location where the talisman exploded as a fiery explosion expanded.
However, the two black-robed figures retreated in steps, accommodating the explosion’s expansion to minimize damage. At the center, the void was already absorbing the explosion’s energy and the spherical spatial barrier completely sealed off its offensive might.
Not even a shockwave escaped as Isabella created the spatial barrier and Stella supported it. As a Void Dust Tree, her spatial control was tremendous, so she made the right choice in supporting Isabella rather than creating the barrier.
Together, the two of them displayed incredible cooperation as they stopped the explosion from worsening. In fact, they had even set up a wide spatial barrier the moment Tanya ascended to battle the Metenoa Family’s Autarch.
Therefore, not a single undulation from their battle escaped. They could not be sensed unless someone was looking at them from a distance.
Soon, the talisman’s offensive might died off and space began repairing itself quite quickly but Stella also aided in it.
"..."
On the other hand, Isabella didn’t know such a thing, so she embarrassedly looked away, looking at the Metenoa Family’s Autarch having fainted from having numerous holes in his body.
"Fifty... sixty...?"
She uttered and shuddered ever so lightly, not knowing how many times Evelynn carved him with her cleaving scythes but he seemed to be a bloody mess.
The dark grayish energy coating those blades reminded her of death energy. It was uncanny since she knew decay energy wasn’t that strong, which meant this was Evelynn’s version of decay energy.
She knew Decay Laws were a fusion of Poison Laws and Darkness Laws.
Evelynn’s poison was already terrific because she inherited the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid’s Bloodline. The fact that her bloodline was Emperor-Tier only improved the toxicity of the poison. Plus, she possessed the Malevolent Darkness Physique in addition to her spirit Wisteria’s Darkness Laws that possessed the property of decay.
She could only imagine what kind of fusion stemmed from all these factors.
’It’s no wonder World Master warned her that she was approaching the most calamitous form of energy...’
"Big sister... if you continue, he might die..."
Tanya raised her sword and stabbed herself, causing the sword to enter her dantian.
On the other hand, Evelynn shrugged.
"I was only checking if he had other talismans hidden. See...? He had some..."
Evelynn took out some talismans from her sleeves, causing Tanya’s eyes to widen. It seemed like she hadn’t paid enough attention or Evelynn’s scythes were just that fast.
"Are... are those Empyrean Grade Talismans...?"
"I would say Autarch Grade from now on but it seems like it..." Evelynn nodded.
"Oh... he’s a Talisman Master?"
Davis appeared beside them, his lips curling.
"Could be but since he’s pretty weak for an Autarch..." Shirley also appeared.
She stretched her body and looked bored again since she didn’t have a chance to show off.
"What do you mean weak?" Isabella rolled her eyes, "An Autarch is still an Autarch... We just didn’t give him enough chance to use his powers with the way we surprised and ganged up on him, not leaving any chances for him to retaliate although the talismans were a surprise..."
"Indeed." Davis nodded.
An Empyrean or Autarch Grade Talisman? He didn’t expect a beginner Autarch to have one since these would be hard to come by, not to mention incredibly expensive but for him to possess multiple talismans, it could mean several things.
Either he had a great backer who wanted him to stay alive or he was a Talisman Master.
"Let me soulscour him." Davis said.
"...!"
Abruptly, all of the ladies’ expressions changed.
"Would... would you be alright?" Evelynn asked.
Although she had faith in him, soulscouring an Autarch was just too much. The Metenoa Family’s Autarch may have his cultivation sealed but if one ventured deep into his soul sea and tried to extract memories from the soul essence, then that was within his domain where he could unleash his transcendent soul force.
Things wouldn’t end well if Davis failed to withstand it.
"It’s fine. We have her after all."
Davis raised his hand to the side and the next second, a figure appeared beside him, holding his hands.
She wore a black robe but from the undulations, everyone quickly knew it was Myria.
They smiled, knowing if it was the both of them, then they could probably withstand the backlash from a sealed Autarch.
Davis performed the Mind Sea Extraction Mirage Technique.
It allowed him to go through the Metenoa Family Autarch’s memories and instantly, he came to know of one thing.
This person was indeed a Talisman Master, a runic specialist of the Autarch Grade. He seemed to have also passed an exam in the Upper Realm but due to offending someone he couldn’t hope to offend, he escaped to the Lower Realms and started a small power.
Ever since then, he stayed here and concealed his power’s territory for fear of repercussions but that didn’t last long since no one came for him.
Hence, he started a family and continued to work on his talismans and didn’t bother to oversee affairs other than wanting Transcendent Crystals because his occupation burned crystals like they were fuel.
’No wonder he didn’t recognize us...’
Davis scoffed at his situation.
The Metenoa Family’s Autarch had just exited a three hundred year seclusion two days ago and went to have dual cultivation with three of his twenty four wives but was interrupted by his group killing two of his best subordinates and one of his sons-in-law.
In other words, he knew nothing about the situation going on in the Lower Realms, not even about the Divergent Hunt.
’What a catch...’ Davis’s gaze flickered.
He was almost stupefied, wondering if such a secluded Autarch could exist.
He had informed Tanya to capture him alive if she could since killing an Autarch would surely cause an uproar, which would directly translate to locating them. He didn’t want to go that far, so he thought of subjugating him. Now, it seems like it is worth keeping him alive.
Learning Empyrean Grade runes was of the utmost importance to their growth.
"You dare!?"
But abruptly, the backlash came.
The sheer Will of the Metenoa Family’s Autarch exploded, refusing to share any more memories and Davis also retreated, not wanting to fully offend him but his brows flickered and he pressed on.
"Who dares? Is it you or me?" Davis cackled lightly.
Myria’s soul physique and his resonated as reincarnation energy rushed inside Metenoa Family Autarch’s soul sea and crashed into his soul essence, causing the manifestation of his Will to collapse in an instant.
It didn’t put up much resistance to reincarnation energy.
Besides, it was thanks to Evelynn’s Sealing Hex and Tanya’s seal that the Metenoa Family’s Autarch couldn’t muster much of a defense and was out cold, leaving Davis free access to his memories.
However, Davis stopped.
Accessing an Autarch’s memories was extremely draining on his soul that he already felt a bit exhausted. If it weren’t for Myria sharing the burden, he would’ve been out cold by now. He also had to create his avatar since he had fused with it, so he maintained his mental faculties above his limits.
Nonetheless, he kept standing straight, appearing indomitable as he raised his head and panned his gaze at his beauties.
"Let’s enslave him and put him back in his home to do our bidding."
"...?"
They blinked, thinking this wasn’t part of the plan.
"Evelynn, do you think you can do something with your hex?"
Davis asked.
